Ek Tha Tiger
has made more than Rs 127 Crores in 6 days, and no one in the industry
or in the audience is really shocked to hear that, considering that the
movie opened to Rs 33 Crore on the first day itself.
A Salman Khan-Katrina Kaif-starrer,
that too during the Eid bracket is definitely a winner. Add to that,
theatre owners perked their ticket prices by 12-16%. The second day
brought in Rs 14+ Cr, the third- Rs 12.9 Cr, And Day 4 saw Rs 16.75 Cr
in the ETT collection box. One can only imagine the collections made on
Monday, which was Eid.
COO, Big Cinems, Ashish Saxena commented, “ETT will reach the Rs 200 Cr mark with ease. It’s in the same league as 3 Idiots.
Its box office performance has been exceptional. Also, the coming days
will see a reasonably high collection from up north.” With that, he adds
that the advance bookings were also full at Big Cinemas and that the
weekend that is coming up will favour the film. Even the exhibitor of
PVR cinemas, Prakash Joshi sees a bright collection on for the film, but
says that the coming weekend will play a pivotal role in whether or not
ETT crosses the Rs 200 Cr mark.
Kabir Khan, director, should take a bow for this record, while we’re sure the producers- Yash Raj Films rake in the cash.
The promotional efforts of the movie by the cast and crew are to be credited for the success.
The
audience may have seen the massive hoardings that are all over
highways, but the train commuters in India are up for a whole new
surprising treat as their usual train announcement has been replaced by
one made by none other than Salman himself.
The actor, who plays
the role of Tiger in the film, has recorded a 15-second voice-over in
his typical tongue-in-cheek humour for the passengers, that plays across
125 railways stations on the Indian railway circuit. ''It was such a
pleasant surprise to hear Salman Khan at the railway platform instead of
the regular announcers one fine morning while rushing to work,'' said a
daily commuter.
Clearly, this strategy has drawn the audience closer to their favourite Khan!
