Sallu's Extravagant Home

In a recent check by advocate YP Singh for the house recently purchased by Salman Khan, the rates and price for which the deal has been made will make your eyes pop out.
Located on Bandstand, the same locality in Bandra, Mumbai where he currently resides, Sallu's realty purchase is over 5 times the ready reckoner rate for the area- 20 crores, making it the costliest in the country.
A 1, 079-sq-ft apartment in a building called 'The Apartment', the calculations mean that he actor paid Rs 1.85 lakh per sq. ft. for the flat. Why the extravagant expenditure, we wonder, considering he already owns a home in the same locality? Surely, not in competition with his arch-rival Shah Rukh Khan?
Other homes in the locality are priced at Rs 30-40,000 per sq. ft. The moolah Sallu bhai plans to cough up for this place makes it the most expensive apartment in the city, reveal stamp duty documents.
The move, of course, gets Khan under a looming question mark. “Why would anyone pay five times over the existing rate of the area?” asks YP Singh, insisteing on interrogation of the actor to find if any rules have been violated in the deal.
Local brokers however do not find the deal any strange. One of them claims, “It’s a triplex flat — generally, builders don’t opt for registration of the super built up area, but charge customers for it. This is not a new phenomenon — if you calculate on the basis of carpet area alone, there would be many flats in Mumbai costing Rs 2 lakh per square foot.”
The actor wasn't available for comment.
