Transport yourself to the midst of political rivalry and chaos,
where the leading duo fall hard for one another. This film is
carried off beautifully on the strong, and young shoulders of its
leading pair- Arjun Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra. The earthy, erotic
chemistry that these two bring on to screen will arrest your
attention right from the first shot together. Arjun as Parma sets a
standard for debutants with his confident portrayal. The stubble and
the moustache he dons in the movie are strongly reminiscent of his
uncle Anil Kapoor during his early years. Parineeti proves her skill
yet again, by being a perfect Zoya. Not for a moment do you think of
the two as new-comers. The characters are convincing enough to not
be able to imagine anyone else playing them. The ease with which
these two act makes you wonder how newcomers could be this unerring.
The characters around them have also been sketched and acted upon very well. But only when you watch the movie do you completely realize how effective the casting has been when it comes to choosing the lead pair.
Filled with passion, drama, and feisty scenes- between Parma-Zoya as well as around them, this story is another gem delivered by Habib Faisal, who, with his debut directorial 'Do Dooni Chaar' now has a consistent record.
Cinematographer Hemant Chaturvedi makes the entire film look as if it could be happening around you. Music by Amit Trivedi and Background score by Ranjit Barot, and you cannot go wrong with a combination like that. The handful of songs do not, for even a second, throw you off track- the soundtrack blends into the veins of the movie the way a perfect soundtrack should. Watch out for the Pareshaan track- you've heard it on TV before, but watching it with this brilliant film will only elevate the experience. So as far as technical aspects go- it's a beauty as well.
The grip, the feel and the ragged appeal of the movie grips you with every line and every scene.
Needless to say, it's evident that YRF have a winner on hand. Breaking away from the grandeur, the extravaganza and the ethereal romances, Ishaqzaade is a surprise that you wouldn't expect from the Yash Raj banner. Here's to the production house that has yet again defined romance in Bollywood with this movie.
Ishaqzaade- Don't only watch it, live it.
Indian audiences- you deserve that strong dose of crazy, impulsive, and arrogant brilliance that Ishaqzaade's got to offer.
The inference is simple. Watch it, or regret you didn't.
