Coming soon: Masti sequel

In the last decade, Masti was the undisputed pioneer of adult comedy in Bollywood. Dhamaal, on the other hand, was a surprise hit that tickled the audience pink with its humour quotient meant for the whole family. With sequels being the trend nowadays, Dhamaal already came up with its second part last year. Director Indra Kumar, who was confused whether Masti 2 should come up first or Dhamaal 3, seems to have made his choice.

Masti sequel is the lucky project. Amusingly titled Grand Masti, Indra will begin work on the film this July with his actors from the original — Vivek Oberoi, Riteish Deshmukh and Aftab Shivdasani. “Riteish, Aftab and Vivek will star in this naughty comedy, which is replete with adult humour,” says an industry source.

Whatever shape the film finally does take, what we do know is that Genelia D’Souza, Tara Sharma and Amrita Rao — Masti’s leading ladies — will not be a part of it, nor will Ajay Devgn and Lara Dutta, whose roles ended with the original.
