Bhanwari Devi killing now a film

Bhanwari Devi killing now a film, bhanwari, devi, nikhil, tonk, film  The Bhanwari Devi gang-rape case took the nation by storm in the year 1992. After Jag Mundhra did his bit to narrate her life through his movie Bawander in 2000, it’s now the turn of young blood Nikhil Tonk to narrate her ordeal. Tonk, creative producer for many leading television shows, has always had a passion for filmmaking. His words to a leading tabloid clearly proved his earnestness: “We have compiled all the articles of Bhanwari ever since media discovered her. It’s a film for women. The research began six months ago. I wish to cast an A-list actress for the lead role of Bhanwari.”

For the uninitiated, here’s the story of Bhanwari Devi in a nutshell:
Bhanwari Devi had gone missing from Jodhpur’s Bilara area in September last year. She was later found dead. Soon after, a CD was released which showed a Rajasthan politico Mahipal Maderna and Bhanwari Devi in a compromising situation. Prior to her death, Bhanwari had taken up issues related to land, water, literacy and health while working with the Women’s Development Project run by the Government of Rajasthan.

Coming back to the film we are talking about, passionate filmmakers do make way; we hope the same for Nikhil Tonk.
